Hi Guys im trying to get the numb shoulder gone. Not tomention the failed frominotomy I had 4 months ago. This time I ill be recieving the prestige artificial disc at C34. I will have done facet decompression at C6 and C7 from the back.

DO you think sleeping on my back wil be hard. I will be hospitalized 2 days. Im comfortable with my surgeon but being 53 with DDD I really don't know what to expect.

Also has anyone had pectoral muscle atrophy from C7 bulging disc?

Any hints to what to expect and provide for myself the first few weeks of recovery. Sleeping on the incision seems like it might not work. I hope I do not have any swallowing problems.

Wish me health! And back at all of you.

  • I am sorry that I can't give you any insight relative to what you are experiencing and going to experience. Hopefully more people will respond before you go in. Knowledge is power, after all. Good luck.

We have alot in common: maybe a failed foraminotomy, wasting in my right pec from c7 compression, and we're both 53. Granted I'm only 3.5 weeks after surgery but the loss of strength in pec/tricep/forearm continues & is worsening. Signficant ache & burn in those areas when performing very routine tasks. I recovered from the surgery well but am getting a very bad feeling that this is not helping. I know this supposedly takes awhile but this isnt what I expected.

Very curious how long it took you & doc to call the procedure a failure? How did you decide what to do next.

Hope you are well. Ant advice would be appreciated
