Hello everyone, I am 6 days post op ACD with fusion, titanium - cadaver bone - have increased swelling at the incision. No redness, no heat, no drainage, looks like half a golf ball in size, pretty soft. Anyone?????? Otherwise I FEEL LIKE A MILLION BUCKS. Pain was gone when I opened my eyes. Oh yeah, also no skin sensation below my neck and some what to the side of the incision itself.

  • Welcome to Spine Health! Good to hear that your surgery went well, and you feel like a million bucks, only after just six days! Since your incision is not red, or does not look infected, the swelling may be due to accumulated blood under the skin. Call your surgeon's office and ask for advise. Maybe some icing would help, but let them tell you what to do.

    Good luck,

    Kin

    Hi bakerbet,
I had swelling near the incision a few months after the surgery. It would appear when I woke up in the morning and would disappear after a few hours. I posted here to see if anyone had the same symptoms but I got no reply. I asked my neurosurgeon and he couldn't give me an answer. I am 20 months post of the corpectomy, discectomy, fusion of C3 thru C6 with lots of titanium both anterior and posterior. It's been a long time since I woke up with swelling near the incision so maybe it won't reappear now.
    Take care,
    Ranger
  • 3 months post of on the micro D and I started feeling some sharpish pain to the left of my incision. surgery was right side of spine so i was a little concerned.

Today my daughter looked at my back and says it is swollen but not red. Now I'm wondering if this is fluid buildup because I am doing too much or if something else happened. I stopped PT about 2 weeks ago because I had so many other appts. THinking of going back to him tomorrow to see what he thinks.

Anyone else get this swelling weeks after the post-op swelling went away?
