Well I had 22 IV treatments and now am on double dose oral antibiotics for pnuemonia. It is getting better. I had Ortho 6 week ck up yesterday and everything there is ok. He said that basically it is healing slowly and it will probably take a year. He said the pnuemonia put me back a month, but I just need to start walking and can go to pool and walk and use arms in the water. Then July 15, my next visit, I might be able to start regular PT. So all is going ok, just tired. Want to be all better now,:(

Yesterday, I was out at our store writing a note to the manager when I started to feel a little weak, and I went to sit down on the stool behind me, when I started feeling really strange. I sat/fell on the stool when I stared to have this extreme electrical storm in my head. I then blacked out for a few seconds and hit my head on something on the counter behind me. I was only out for a couple seconds but when I came to I had this ringing in my ears and pressure on my head.

I went to the ER and they did a EKG and then a CT scan of my head. The ER DR called my Dr and he thinks I had a seizure. He scheduled me for a EEG and followup with him after. He said if the EEG dont show something he is sending me to a neurologist for more tests. I have been having these electrical type things going on for 6 months to a year. But none of them have been anything like this. I thought it was medications I was on. Last week I did have one that was a little longer, maybe 15 seconds or so. Has anyone had something like this happen? I am scared and dont feel like driving, as yesterday it would have been dangerous. Anyone Please? :S

  • Take it easy and gets lots of rest. I understand how hard it is to deal with set backs but your body needs time to recover before you can do the PT part for your back. Hang in there. (((((HUGS)))))
  • So sorry to hear about this latest problem, I hope that it isn't very serious. I'm glad to hear that you're recovering from the pneumonia though, just remember to take it easy, and don't overdo it!!
Sending hugs and warm wishes your way!!

  • sorry to read about recent fade out. did you notice anything strange about your breathing when this occurred?
i had trouble with seisure like feelings 3 years ago in the hospital when i was recovering from an infection after spinal surgery.
i would feel myself fading out then my lungs would gasp heavily for air. it would scare the daylights out of me. the hospital never checked it out. i, like you, was on pain meds, sleepy pills, antibiotics and prednisone. eventually i came of the pain meds and sleeping pill. that's when the fade outs went away.
since the dr.s didn't find out what it was i came up with my own theory. sleeping pills and pain killers were slowing down my breathing and my oxygen level was getting low. my body would wake up and force me to take a giant breath to get things right. pills can do a number on you.
you're smart to get it checked out.
i wish you a strong recovery.

I had pneumonia on 2 of my surgeries. I remember that the ortho said to call the pulmonary doc. that pre oped me. that was his job!
The pulmonary doc. put me on a combivent inhaler to open my lungs as the pneumonia slows the amount of oxygen you get. And the opioids slow your respiratory also. Of course that was beside all the antibiotics he was giving me. Point is with the slowed breathing and the pnewmonia I'm sure that I was not getting enough blood going to my head. And that could make you dizzy.
So I'm wondering if you are seeing a pulmonary specialist. And If maybe you should be laying low at home until you beat the pnewmonia. And I have to think the inhaler had to help get more oxygen to my brain. I hope your feeling better each day!
    Good luck, Jim

Today is yours to embrace........ for tomorrow, who knows what might be starring you in the face!
  • Did blood work up and set it off for micro tests. Got results today. Walking pnuemonia and an old infection. So 10 more days of strong anitibiotics. Also had EEG test for seizures, will find out next Friday. Gosh I think I should have my own room there. That way I could just stay at the clinic!
  • feels that way sometimes, doesnt it? (needing a permanent room). I hope you don't have the iv anymore, they hurt after a while!! I also hope that you are feeling much better in the next few days, keep us posted!!!

  • I sure hate to hear about another set-back with you.

How are you feeling? I know how the pneumonia feels and the antibiotics are going to kick those nasty bacteria out of your system soon. I'm just wondering how you are feeling with the other issue?

I've checked the yogurt ailes and they don't sell rhubarb yogurt! Darn it! But, they do have quite a wide variety out there. If you haven't already, yogurt will do your body good right now. It really will.

We rented Mall Cop to watch tonight. If you haven't seen it, I'll let you know if it's a good one to rent... if you haven't seen it already.

You're in my prayers, as always and I send much love your way.

Take it real easy, my friend.

    >:D< >:D< >:D< :X ,

  • I cannot come up with the words that come close to saying how sorry I am that you are going through all of this again or still ............. >:D< >:D< >:D< >:D< >:D< >:D< >:D< >:D< >:D< >:D< and prayers that you are over all of this soon.

I had 3 surgieries in 12 days at the beginning of the year. I told them I wanted to sign up for the frequent procedure plan. Buy 3 get the 4th one free. After having two babies and hitting the big 40 and all I thought I'd opt for a tummy tuck for the free one. The hospital staff got a big laugh out of it (guess they didn't take me seriously) plus the nurses loved my pedicure. I got it done after the first two sugeries and had every toe a different color! My little girl loved it and said I had rainbow toes. Now I have 5 colors. A little tame but still get lots of comments no that it's sandal season.

Maybe you should get rainbow toes or fingers or both. The preschool and early elementary grades love it!!!! =)) :D
