:H All - what a great forum you have here - so helpful and supportive.

I've joined up because of that, and because in 1.5 weeks time I am in for a discectomy (sp?) and I've today started getting nervous about the op, but also about the recovery. I can be a stubborn mare at times but see from your posts that doing what you're told is best! I'm sure my back will tell me what I can do.

I've never been what I'd called sporty, my OH and I walk alot in the countryside and with our dogs and we run a small farmlet so plenty of exercise in that respect. However, after the last 3 yrs in pain I shall be aiming for running a marathon after I've recovered from surgery, having been so restricted in what I can do for so long!!!

Anyway, I have heaps of questions to ask in due course!

Thanks for reading
