Hi my name is Kandi and like most of you, I also have extreme lower back pain. The pain is actually more in the buttocks area and right leg. I have been suffering from the lower back pain for a year and about 5 months ago I started getting the pain in the buttocks and now I am getting the pain down my right leg.

I got a steriod shot a week and a half ago with no real help. I had been taking loracet for pain and now I am taking loratab 5 and have no relief. I will be making an appointment with my Dr. today. I have been calling everyday to let him know the shot did not work and to find out what's next, he has yet to call back...so I guess I am going to have to go in.

  • Welcome to the Spine Health Forum Kandi and it sounds as though you're experiencing sciatica due to nerve impingement...they'll probably want to do yet another (or possibly two more) ESI's to reduce inflammation and subsequently, the nerve pain.

Looks like your journey is pretty much just beginning, so joining us here at the SHF is a good place to get advice and support...there's many people here with alot to share based on years of chronic pain experiences!

Take care and best wishes -

  • Yes, it sounds very much like sciatica due to nerve im pignement, as Jeff said. Sounds pretty similar to what I experience as well. I wish you the best with you doctor.
