Hello. I am new to the forums, so please be patient.
20+ years ago, when I was a wrestler and in fantastic physical condition, I was diagnosed with Sponylolysis with mild Spondylolisthesis. I was in great shape back then and after several months in PT, I recovered well enough to wrestle for a couple more years.
Now, out of the blue, I am having moderate, but constant lower back pain that radiates regularly to my buttocks and thighs and less frequently all the way down to my feet.
For the sake of brevity, I will leave out a lot of the story, but at this point my Physiatrist (via a nurse) called and said that my x-rays show "signs of sponylolysis" and subsequent x-rays showed "no instability." That is really all the info I have at this point. He RX'd Lodine and Tramadol and I have been doing PT 2-3 times a week for 4 weeks now. This treatment has helped reduce the pain (mainly the tramadol), but it is still there all the time.
With all that said, I'd like to ask any kind members of this community for 2 things.
First, if any of you have experiences with Sponylolysis causing pain, please share them here for me. I have read what I can about the condition online and it really doesn't sound like it is particularly painful on it's own. So I am confused and would like to learn more.
Secondly, my next appointment is in a few days and I am clueless of what questions I should be asking the doc to help myself understand things better. If you have any advice of how to make the most of my appointment, please share it. Most of the time I leave a doctor's office more unsure of things than I came. But since this constant pain is taking over my life, I need to be more on the ball. Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks for reading, and thanks in advance for any responses.
