Well, I am almost a month from my surgery. My incision healed so well that getting the staples out was murder. I am wearing my brace except when sleeping or going to the bathroom at home. I have none of the pain that I had pre-surgery. Now the only pain I have is the occasional spasm that comes with healing and It gets really sore when I walk too much. I take a few 10 mg vicodins during the day and sometimes two at night. From using the walker and only being able to lay certain ways, my hips, shoulders and hands are sore. I could certainly stop the Vicodin if it weren't for those aches. I have been trying to cut down. I have not started to fuse yet, but considering my healing so far, he thinks it will start to fuse soon. I am set to go back to work next month, the day after my 3rd wedding anniversary.

My first doctor was dead wrong... Telling me that everything was fine! There was a huge bone spur at l4-l5 almost completely squeezing my nerves. ITs a good thing I got second and third opinions.

Happy Healing everyone!

  • is wonderful to hear that you are doing so well. Please keep us posted when you can. Wishing you nothing but the best....take care....Miki
  • you're doing so well. You were a wise woman to get a second and third opinion. I do believe we know when something is horribly wrong with our bodies. Rest up, get you walking in, and heal well!

    3 level spinal fusion, L3/4, L4/5, L5/S1, November 2008. Stiff, but I can walk.
