I am set for a 360 two level fusion on July 9th. I am wondering who else has had this procedure and what can I expect for recovery. I have already had one level fusion in Dec for L4/L5 and it did not take and my screws are falling out...so now,.,,,,,,,new surgeon...L4/L5 and L5/S1 360 fusion -

What will my recovery be like? Doc says 6 days in hospital. He is using cadaver bone to replace discs..

Any personal experiences would be appreciated.

  • was a 360, 1 level, redo from 2 level PLIF. Immediate post op was worse w/360, but after about 2 weeks it improved about as quick as my PLIF. It's just tough b/c you can't rely on your abdominal muscles to move around or turn over. You're so gentle with your back, but then you pull your stomach. Not real easy to get comfortable. I went back to work after PLIF at 7 weeks and I'll go back at 7 weeks with this one too (I start back Mon.). The difference is that I did 1/2 days 1 week the first time and I'll do it 2 weeks this time. I was in the hospital only 3 days with both. Probably could have used another day w/the 360...but I wanted outta there!! Pain control was MUCH harder for the 360, but I think that was related to having to go to 30mg of opana in the yr and a half between surgeries, not so much the surgery itself. Since you've had surgery already...you know what to expect. I think the back is the worst part, but before I had this, I'd had 2 c-sections and a hysterectomy so the abdomen wasn't awful. Best of luck to you!!!!
