Had Cervical Spine surgery with fusion last August for a blown disc..Surgery worked wonders, but I get these strange spasms that come and go intermittently on my little finger side of my left hand..My hand will draw up to where my little finger touches my thumb.

anyone heard of this?

  • Hi and welcome! Sorry I've never heard of that specific problem! Have you called your doctor? If it's disruptive, you should probably do that right away. I have heard of ulnar nerve entrapment causing eventual muscle atrophy, where the little finger claws, but it doesn't sound like the same thing.

Anyway, I hope you feel better, and keep us informed!

  • I have had two surgeries on two levels. The first surgery I had a fusion and plate put in. The second I had something scraped off of the level above the first and the disc was "drained".

Following both surgeries IMMEDIATE relief was felt. *ahhh!*

But I have experienced a lot of these same symptoms which is actually what prompted me to search for a forum such as these.

My last surgery was 2 years ago this coming November, but recently I have been noticing muscle spasms, strange pains in my muscles of my right arm (same arm as before). Maybe cramping is a better word.

I've also noticed increasing weakness in my hand and arm. Not so much the curling of a finger, but my hand indeed does some things that I'm not "telling" it to do. Nothing severe, it just doesn't hold things as tight as I am expecting it to.

I was basically wondering if this had happened to anyone else, and if this had lead to subsequent surgeries.

    Thank you!
