New type of surgery for herniated disc

I just came off an appointment with a neurosurgeon and his method of treatment is a MIS which used microscopic laser technique where the herniated disc is removed like 'burned off' and then a gell is applied to prevent the disc from coming off again...

Anyone heard of this procedure before? Know of it's full name? Know of anyone who's done it as well?

I've been scouring the web for it but has found nothing so far....

Thanks for any inputs!
