Hi, This is going to be long, but I really need the advice.
Just a little about myself and my situation... I'm 35, a mom of a toddler, wife of 5 years to a wonderful husband, and full time factory worker. Been having Difficulty in my left side back, shoulder, lung and chest since Febuary this year(09). Went to family doc and said it is pleuracy(infection between the lung linings). They said the only treatment for it would be Ibuprofen for the ani-inflammatory, but I was newly pregnant, so I couldn't use it. They said just another pain killer may help with the pain. After 9 weeks I miscarried, so I went back in for a second time as the pain hadn't gone away. He (new dr) then gave me an anti-inflammatory perscription(Meloxicam) that helped alot, but when it ran out it came back and worse.
I went back again, he took X-rays(no pleuracy)and he gave me more meloxicam, along with a muscle relaxant (flexeril) and a pain med. They are all interfereing with my work as a machine welder. Sleep working just isn't very safe in my line of work. He said if it doesn't improve within 3 weeks I need to come in for a CAT scan.
Next I started with a chiropractor, thinking something else might be going on. The X-rays show Phase 2 degeneration
and large bone spurs. He says it is something he can help with, he will present a plan to me tomorrow of what he will do and how long he thinks it will take.
So, I am wondering which route if not both I should take, Chiropractic, or let the other doctor do the CAT scan, or my mom said I should see an orthopedic surgeon.
What would you reccomend? Thanks in advance, Sally

  • hi mrsibarra
i think i'd stay with the dr who recommends the ct scan. you dont know yet if the spine is involved. if ct shows a spinal problem you can move to a spinal surgeon. since you started with this dr why not follow him to the next move if there is one.
i'm not sure i followed you...was it ever proved you had pleuracy?
  • hi and welcome to the forum! :H we are here to offer you support and answer what questions we can. i am not sure financially if it would pay to just go ahead and see an orthopedic surgeon and get your MRI. :? get some more advice and see where you wind up!! :D good luck and i wish you all the best at pain relief! =D> Jenny :)
  • Sorry, I didn't make that part very clear, It turns out that they were just going by the symptoms and decided it was pleuracy until they did an xray then found nothing.
