I have had 4 back surgeries going back to 1999.My first was a disectomy at L-5, at 2000 a laminectomy ,2004 anterior fusion at S-1/L-5.Then 2006 posterior fusion at same level.Been in pain for most of this year and last. Each month getting worse as things that I used to do a few months ago have become more painful and taking more norco to keep at a level 6. My spine doc has ordered ct scan and mri ,I'm worried that I might have top have more surgery on the next vertebra at L-3.Has anyone been there ?

  • Can't tell you much except that my dr. is concerned about my L4/3 going as well. It might be in the next year, it might be in 10 years, but he does expect it to go with the added pressure of my S1-L5 fusion placing extra force on it every day.

Get the CT scan and a Discogram if you can - I highly recommend teh Discogram for getting the details of what's happening in there. MRI's - well, they show some but certainly not all. IMHO
  • Saltzworks < thanks for the info < I am schedualed to get the MRI this week and I have had the ct scan with injection.I ahve had everything they can think of as most of the folks have done as well. I guess I'm anxious about a 5th surgery on my spine and still can't do the things that I used to do without alot of pain. Thanks again
