MRSA Infection post ACDF-experiences

Hi..I had my ACDF surgery on 6/9/09 and started having on irritation on my incision at about 2-3 weeks post op..At my month visit to the NS he prescribed Keflex because of the inflammation and felt that would take care of it..That weekend it started to become more reddened and inflamed...I saw my primary care Doc this Monday and he opened up the infection and drained it while also taking a culture. He also prescribe a providine/sugar mixture to put on the wound to assist with the healing..This morning I received a call that the culture tested positive for MRSA...Needless to say I freaked out, but the nurse said if I now take sulfamethoxazole-TMP, I should be ok...Has anyone had this with a positive experience and healing..The main things I read are horrifying...Are there other things I should do? Whatch should I watch out for? Is this antibiotic enough? Is my family at risk? I don't know where I got it, in the hospital or was it already in my system..Please let me know your thoughts and suggestions for how I should handle it...Thanks in advance for any help you can provide..Amy
