Had acdf c5-7 surgery on 7/8/09 almost immediately pain in neck was gone 2 days started getting use of right arm back but have compromised balanace and walking issues from spine being compressed and pain issues in legs but now have a different burning sensation in left leg than b-4 a lot more painful and feel like someone is dumping coldwater on my head right above neck has anyone had this happen after surgery any response would be helpful... thanks.

  • So I would highly recommend getting that checked out. From my surgeries, lumbar and cervical, the cervical corrects the upper body and the lumbar corrects the lower body. My lumbar spine really acted up after the cervical and thus I wound up having the lumbar a year after the cervical. I had one therapist tell me that when you correct the neck like that if there is any defect in the lumbar you can set it off because it now has to compensate differently. I am the lucky one with Degenerative Discs in my whole spine so it isn't hard to set things off.
Hit the doc and see what's up!
    Good Luck.
  • Talked to doc today he said to wait another couple weeks to see how it goes when i see him. I had severe compression on the spine which affected my legs balance and walking . I have gotten most of my hand use back on only day 8 after surgery and very little pain except for leg still having balance problems and walking but doc said this could take a while considering the amount of nerve damage on them from compression still very happy from getting surgery feel alot better than b-4.
