Hi, I had a failed lamin/ disc. and am pretty much in constant lower back pain and sciatica. I have been considering my various options. It has been 2.5 years of almost constant pain which limits my ability to work and enjoy an active lifestyle. Need to do something!
I have just read about something from my pain management doctor about biologics. Has anyone used them for back issues? I have a herniated disc, spinal stenosis and DDD. Supposedly this is a day surgery, very low invasion, and uses your own blood. Anyone heard about it? Tried it? Had any success? Thanks- Wendy
Here is what his site says:
"Currently, the closest thing we have to biologics is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). In this
procedure, we collect blood and concentrate the elements that have growth
factors to promote healing. The blood concentrate is then injected into an area of
injury or inflammation to promote natural healing." Article:http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/17/sports/17blood.html
