Hi, first time site. scheduled for lumbar laminectomy,w/fusion on s1,l5,l4 been in chronic pain since 1989. work as a mechanic and a van fell forward off the hoist and landed on 2 co-workers i rushed over and lifted up enough so they could get out. my question is how long will i be out, doctor siad 3 months for sure, sounds like it major surgery not that all back surgery isn't he siad they need to make a 6 inch incesion. sorry so long any info appreciated. current meds: vicodin, lyrica, and now flexirel.

  • I had my surgery today. My surgery was minimally invasive (only 2 small incisions) I only had one level done L5-S1, but it was out patient and I've been getting up to walk every 20min . I just know that your healing time is much shorter the less invasive the surgery.

  • Glad all went well, sounds like your doing great, remember not to rush it.
  • hi ....i think it could be 6 months before youre back to work. there are lots of variables like how quickly you fuse and how much post surgery pain you get. also your job puts a lot of stress on the spine. check with your doc and follow his orders. best of luck with surgery....... pete
