I have recently had an L5/S1 MIS-TLIF and have been experiencing increasing lower back pain and nerve issues. At 3 months I had an MRI and CT scan. The MRI indicated that the nerve root was clear and the CT scan showed evidence of fusion. At 6 months the pain and nerve symptoms are limiting daily function.
Does anyone have experience diagnosing hardware pain/nerve impingement?
How can the MRI (without contrast) demonstrate that the nerve root is clear when the artifact blackens part of the image?
Would an MRI WITH contrast show the nerve if it were being compressed by the hardware or would the artifact still blacken this area of the image?
How do Ortho's/NS's diagnose loose pedicle screws?
During the first 3-5 months most of my nerve flare ups (down the side of my legs and feet) were brought on by sitting or walking. Laying down alleviated much of the nerve pain/throbbing. Now at 6 months the nerve pain radiates from the lower back across the bum and down the sides of my legs most of the day and now NIGHT.
Does anyone have any experience diagnosing hardware issues? Thanks so much.
