My NS is planning to use Optimesh for my L3/4 fusion. I can't find a whole lot of information out there on it, but it does seem to have some negatives. Have any of you had this? Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

  • I've been doing a lot of reading about OptiMesh since you mentioned it. I think it is so relatively new that not that many surgeons are using it yet.

It sounds like a good product. Just find out how many times your surgeon has used it in surgeries. There isn't much of a track record with it, so he won't be able to tell you how well it works down the road.

But it certainly sounds like it makes the whole procedure a whole lot easier. You might find out if he was one of the doctors who conducted the clinic trials for the product.

You can be our very own Spine-Health reporter on the use of OptiMesh, unless we can turn up someone else who has had it inserted.
  • I think that is great that you've been researching it with me!
I'm pretty sure my doctor knows how to do it cause he is the one in the video!! How funny is that?!
I know he is a very highly respected surgeon but I'm really nervous about using something so new. In fact I'm a nervous wreck about this and I'm normally a very laid back person.
  • My surgery is next week and I am still very nervous about having such a new product used. If anyone knows anything about it I sure would love to hear it. Thanks!
