I had corpectomy c5-6 with fusion of c4-7 on june 25th. This morning as I was getting ready for work I noticed where my drainage tube was that it was a little swollen. This is a little graphic so please excuse, I squeezed the area and puss came out. The incision had been healed for around 4 weeks. Is it normal to get some drainage this far out from surgery? Of course my mind immediately thinks staph infection. I called the surgeon and see him tomorrow. Will they be able to tell tomorrow if it is a staph infection? Is my neck now infected?
I am panicked as this surgery is my last hope(4th surgery).
Anyone ever experienced this?
