Moving Soon Concerned about finding good treatment

I have not posted in some time. Most days are spent in my recliner and thats about it. I worked for 30 yrs loved my job but was injured. (hit top and back of head) landed on concrete floor (lower back) rt. shoulder, tailbone. Anyway ended up with cervical fusion level 2, did not work very well continued and increased nerve damage. Rt vocal cord damaged so I can hardly speak. Low back pain radiating down mostly left leg with nerve damage but now radiating down right leg also. Now using wheelchair to get about. I have tried every therapy, pain blocks and the nerve pain (constant burning) is just awful. I only sleep approx. 2 hrs per night due to waking up in pain. Just a brief description I hate to rattle on about myself, I feel like I am whinning and try to be positive as much as I can.
Here is my question and to be honest I am unsure if I can ask this so I won't feel bad if you monitor and I apologize.
I currently have a very nice compassionate pain management dr. Since I am now disabled which I never in a million yrs thought would happen (I know none of us do) my husband is disabled he has a serious heart condition and I always knew I had to work for insurance purposes. Anyway with losing both our incomes we have lost our home and will be moving to FL. We currently live in MI. I realize this is a big move but my father and uncle will be approx. 4 miles away and can help if needed. One of the reasons we decided to move there. To make a long story short of course I am now very concerned on finding a good pain management dr. who will be willing to continue my medications. I can't say they help alot but can't imagine my pain levels without. I currently am on Percocet 3 times a day, Neurontin 200 mgs 4 times a day and Methodone 5 mg. 3 times a day. I was wondering if anyone who may live near or around Stuart, FL could perhaps even private message me the names of some pain management specialists near this area. I thought perhaps we could not give out names so if we are allowed to privately message names of dr.'s I would be so grateful. I am actually scared we won't be able to find a dr to treat me then what. My current PM dr. said FL physicians are usually good when it comes to PM. Has anyone else had to go through a move and all the concerns that goes with it since having pain issues? I thought this would be a great place to come to as in this day in age many of us are going through financial difficulties and may have been through what I am dealing with now! Any comments or support would be wonderful as moving in of itself and not being able to help has been so stressful.
Thank you so very much

  • I just went through this. I moved from out of state to Florida. Make sure you have copies of your records. My company covered COBRA for me, but it took a while to get that started. I called several PM's and they wanted over 400.00 for an office visit. I think that price it that hight to scare away drug seekers, but for those with legit issues it's crazy. I finally got my Cobra going and looked up my current PM from the list of providers and everything worked out. I too was very nervous that I would not be able to find a Dr. that would write me scripts without history. Call around and let them know your situation, hopefully you will find someone who will not charge you so much. I assume you don't have any insurance, is that correct?
