Hiya everyone, i hope you don't mind me joining you at last(i have been lurking for ages pre op) and you all don't know how much you have helped me already.
Six days ago i had a 360 degree solid fusion S1-L5, and in addition i needed some flexible stabilisation to support the next vertebrae so my surgeon applied the dynesys hardware to the next level to lock it all into place. Was a four and half hour operation in total. I been suffering from spondylothesis with ddd an broken facet joints, and my spine had become very unstable.
It's day six today and my backside is black and blue and my shins are bruised from the operating table. My surgeon said my bones were extraordinarily hard and he had to really hammer hard at them to clean things out.
I guess its normal for my backside to be mostly numb too an this will come back when the swelling subsides, i dint have much meat on me so it feels like my backside has grown 4 sizes over night an i get fuzzy legs if i stand to long at the moment. I am walking short distance, toilet, round garden, round corner to the doctors surgery i but have crutches because i still feel a bit weak an wobbly without them. My physiotherapist just said to take it easy an be guided by my body as to how much i do, no set rules, except no bending or lifting. I have codeine at night for bed and for the daytime just paracetamol and diclofenic anti inflammatory.
Anyways..just wanted to say hello at last an maybe pick your brains a bit if thats ok
