Hi there,

I have been dealing with back pain for the last 7 years. I have had a discectomy 5 yrs ago. I am in the process of determining the source of chronic lumbar pain now. I just need support as I am in the last year of college for teaching and want to be able to make it through the year. I like to chat with people with back problems and see how they cope with the problems daily. Have a nice day!

Welcome to spine health. I'm sure that everyone here is more than willing to help you out with ideas and suggestions. I hope that you're able to finish college. It would be terrible to have to quit. Does sitting for long periods cause you pain? What kinds of meds are you taking? What tests have you had so far?
I hope you like it here. Again, welcome.

  • Hi there Sunny and Lulu,
Thanks for writing so quickly...Day before yesterday I had a supine xray and two side xrays of my lumbar. Afterward, I had an MRI with and without contrast. So I am hoping they can tell me what is going on. I have been to more than two months of physical therapy and I feel I have become worse when began having me perform the hamstring strengthening in aquatic therapy. I am taking skelaxin and naproxen for pain and muscle spasms, but I am getting to the point where this does not ease my pain at all. Sitting defininitely causing sciatic pulling and pain to creep down leg now. (1 month ago I had no issues with sciatica, but now it's both horrible backpain if I do medium duty housework). Thanks for being supportive! How are your backs doing?
  • I meant to say hi to Mey, too. Hi, Mey!
  • I sure hope the MRI can reveal the source of your pain and the dr. can start taking action to help you feel better. Those meds never helped my sciatica either so I know how you feel right now. I sure hope your back issues can be resolved soon!
