HI Everyone

Docs are now suspecting that my neck and head pain is from nerve damage from my whiplash. They just put me on Skelaxin last night. First pill was wonderful. Had a great night sleep. So far I'm not getting any side effect (no percocet hangover).

I'm wondering if anyone has had longer term experience with this? What's the good and the bad? They are saying that I might be able to function during the day on a half dose. Any one with experience?

  • I was put on it after my accident. I just remember it calming everything down. I was scared to be on it too long because I didn't know much about the drug. You should google it. I have a pill book and look up everything. Good Luck and I hope it helps.
  • The only long time side effect I have had is the emptying of my wallet. =))

I have been on for over 2 years. No drowziness like flexeril etc. but not generic ($25 co-pay). Flexeril make me too groggy even in the smallest version

I can't even tell I'm on it sometimes. I still think Valium 5mg is better at nighttime but the docs won't prescribe it long term. Skelaxin works for me but combined with the non-genric Lyrica and non-generic Tramadal ER its' expensive.
  • So far so good.

Para I'm glad to hear you say you can function on this. I've been building up gradually so that i can see how it effects me. So far it doesn't make me tired but it does let me sleep at night. No hang over effect which is great. I am nervous about driving more than around the corner on it. I am hoping to take the full doses this weekend to see what happens.

The price is scary. Almost $300 for a month supply. Mine is covered by no-fault. By accident I put it under my prescription plan which I will have to straighten out now. I'm sure the no-fault will go nuts when they see this bill.
  • Almost a week now and I really like this med. No hangover feeling and I can function on the full dose. Not perfect at getting rid of all pain, but my PT is suspecting that it is letting the real source of my problems come through.
