HI, I am new to this part of the forum. I recently had my Spinal Cord Stimulator removed and now am looking at another surgery for a Herniated Disc, can anyone tell me what I might be looking at for time off work? I have a call into the Surgeon, but that may take a day or 2. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!!!

Take care!

  • There are so many different surgeries to repair herniated disk, I think you might need to provide more details. I can tell you that for me, a diskectomy led to 6 weeks off and a year later, a PLIF L5-S1 fusion = 12 weeks. . .
  • What disc?

Lumbar vs. Cervical makes a fairly big difference -

In any case I would not expect anything less than months to recover. You do not want to rush anything when it comes to a fusion - if that's what's on the table for you.

oh, and you said 'another' surgery for a herniated disc - what was your other surgery. Was it a discectomy, a fusion...?
