hi all my pain buddies
as some of you know i have been having a rough time lately with increasing back pain and reduced ability to live life,i have just come from my family doctor and after an hour long consultation he want me to see the neurosurgeons again as he is worried about my new problems .i am unable to get comfy anywhere and i am having problems peeing and i have been unable to have sex for over 2 years now due to erection problems and the inability to be able to move and enjoy that particular activity .also since my last operation i have been a lot weaker and my lower back pain has got to the stage where even large amounts of Oxycontin are barley effective ,i would like to thank all the kind people that have wished me well and have been there for my the support during my hour of need .i should be seen by same neurosurgeon that performed the last operation within 6 weeks {this is classed as an emergency appointment} i will keep you all in formed about my condition and results from various test as and when i get them ,,i would like you to be there for me in a supportive roll as only you people that are going through similar problems will understand what i am going through .a big thank you to all that have taken an interest in my health .i will still be here tyring to help and advise others with health problems in the meantime ,thank you all again

  • Eh good to hear that you have an answer - and things are moving for you! David
  • I hope you finally find some relief. It's not surprising that it's considered an emergency and I'm glad they see that.

Good luck and I hope things finally start to get better for you.

  • I hope the neuro can figure out something to help you. Jeez, no sex - that sucks... I'd be seeking help as well..
(Hope that gave you a chuckle)! Or an ARK-ARK as I like to say.
Take care, feel better - Marion
  • I hope they do something for you this time around so that you can get back your normal function. I certainly understand how much this means to you. I'm so glad you have such a wonderful, loving and supportive wife by your side. What a difference this makes. I couldn't do this alone without my dear hubbie as well. Well my friend, I am rooting for you and praying that everything comes out in your favor. You deserve the very best and have marched on stoically throughout your ordeal, and still manage to be there for us in our time of need. It means a lot to us and you know you can count on all of us through this journey.

    Hugs, Meydey >:D<

APROUD CANADIANveteranButNOTa doctor, my thoughts are my own
  • Hi Straker,

I'm glad to hear you had a good consultation with your doctor this morning. It's always a relief, when you receive confirmation that more tests need to be done... in order to find out what is causing your continual set-backs. Your Neurosurgeon will do whatever is necessary to get you back on track.

We are definitely here to support you and I hope you receive answers, real soon!

I wish you the very best.

    Hang in there, Straker.

  • Thanks for sharing your news. Hope the time passes quickly for you. In two weeks I will be seeing a new surgeon, hope he can help me. Just a glimmer of hope is exciting-hang in there. Hugs n' Loves - Paula
  • the appointment went well today .my doctor is old school and you can't pull the wool over his eyes ! if he thinks that you are faking your arse will be out his door ASAP but he was genuinely concerned today .his main worry was lack of continence and loss of use on my right leg .he did not want me to go for surgery again but after me telling him my new symptoms he told me that i had no choice .what i did was write everything down and just give him the letter .he said it was a very good idea and wanted to keep it so he could take from it my interpretation of how i am feeling and what aches etc then add his bit and send it to the surgeons.6 weeks is good over here for an appointment .
  • Best of luck my friend. We are all rooting for you.
You will be in our prayers and thoughts.
You have been through so much and suffered so much yet you are always unfailingly kind, understanding and helpfull to all of us here.
Thank YOU for being here for all of us.

  • Dear Straker,
I wish you could get treated here in the USA where you could get into a neuro so much sooner. The wait will be hard but at least you know that it's on it's way.
Yes, having your beautful red head by your side is a comfort isn't it, I too have a very special husband who is my 'soft place to fall'.
I'll pray for you and may the answers come swiftly and positively for you. Your strong, your sweet, you deserve so much more and it will come, I know it will. Just hang in there Baby!
  • I hope these next six weeks pass quickly and you can get answers and treatment soon. Constant pain and other symptoms are awful and scarey so any relief we can get is greatly appreciated and uplifting. I will keep up with your posts and progress and wish you the best.

  • hope they can sort you out, you always been there for me when ive needed help >:D<
  • he has talked to the surgeon and he says the he will try to see me before 6 weeks as a professional courtesy at the moment most of the neuro team are no holiday and my surgeon is covering for about 3 hospitals {as the on call neuro} but he says that if i can come at very short notice he will do his best to see me
  • Good to hear that they are trying to get you checked out sooner rather than later. Hope you find some help and answers. By the way, you always crack me up when you use terms like "arse" and "knackered". In the US we don't hear that very often and its refreshing. It also reminds me that anywhere in the world, we are still connected through our pain issues. (did that make any sense?)
    Take care,
  • How wonderful. I'm sure you have the motor revving on the recliner, getting ready to hit the road to the neuro's office :D It would be an answer to all our prayers for you if he can get you in soon. I know what it is to wait months for an appt. I love the new pic of you & your Angel. I'm sorry to hear you are having increasing problems, especially your leg. That doesn't sound good.... Sex? Does anybody here get to have sex? Nobody told me!! =)) Do you guys over there get the Viagra commercials? I crack up every time they say if you have an erection for over 4 hours you need to go to the doctor....In my opinion that would be a cause for celebration!! (Hope I put a smile on your face :))( ) Well, guess I better try going to bed, see if I can sleep. Take care friend, and hang in there, relief is on the horizon.

Praying for health and healing for you.
  • I just ead your post and I am happy for you that you are finally getting the well deserved help you need, Here in the Us is about the same way you have to hurry up and wait, I have found one thing that has helped me with appointments that seem to take forever getting here, that is to call the office once a week and tell them if they were to have a cancelation I would like the opportunity to have that slot, it has worked for me on several occaisions. It is just a suggestion, and who knows it may work for you too, hey it is worth a shot at the least. I will be thinking about yo and praying for you. I read your posts and you are always giving of yourself so now let others be giving to you, it is a give and take thing, seems to work out just fine and by the amount if responses you already have it seems you have some great friends waiting to help you. Give your wife a big hug and tell her she is a very special person, it takes alot of love and understanding in these situations and I am glad to hear you have both. Keep us informed and we will be thinking about you and praying for you.
  • as for Viagra my doctor would give me a sript for some today ..that's not the problem .my body hurts so much that even with healthy genitals i would be unable yo enjoy sex .tweety thank for you words of kindness i will continue to help other if i can and yes my wife is very special .it take a special kind of person to deal with someone that is permanently sick .i think that her 28 years of nursing may have something to do with it!
  • I can see you know.

Sitting in that new recliner with a cell phone taped to your ear, or one of those blue tooth headsets blinking away in the night! Waiting for the call!

Hope you get the fix you deserve!
  • Speaking of Viagra and the like, the pharmacy I stopped at a few days ago had an interesting selection of 'enhancement' aids, some with dodgy 'Engrish' names. The one that caught my attention came in a bright red box with a picture of the symbol for Mars (or male) pointing upwards like a rocket, and it was called 'Cockup'!

When I left the pharmacy I noticed the meds I'd bought came in a bag advertising 'cop liver oil'. Made me wonder whether any policemen were harmed in the making of this product...

Straker, you are blessed to have such a supportive person to go through all this with. It must make things more bearable, at least. Hang in there, and hope the wait for the neurosurgeon is over sooner rather than later.

  • Your doc is right the incontinence is a big sign that something needs to be done very soon. Thank goodness you have a wonderful spouse who understands you. You deserve to feel better.
