I am new here in this forum, but the pain is not at all new to me. I have been suffering from back pain since last 3 years or so before I went to a neuro surgeon. The upper back pain radiates all the way to my left ring finger. Whereas, the lower back pain - which is quite severe, radiates down my left leg and is associated with tingling sensation. Bending down or standing for even 5 minutes is very painful.
My Spine MRI done six months ago, says :-
- T1 SE sagittal
- T2 TSE sagittal
- T2 axial for lumbar region)
"There are degenerative anterior osteophytes in the lumbar and cervico-dorsal vertebral bodies at places. Posterior osteophytes are noted at L3-L4 peridiscal margins. No evidence of any altered signal is noted in the vertebral bodies and their appendages.
There is central and bilateral paracentral disc herniation at L4-L5 level with thecal compression and early bilateral foraminal encroachment. Small central disc protrusions are also noted at C5-C6 and C6-C7 levels with mild thecal impingement. The interverteral discs reveal reduced signal intensity on T2 weighted image suggestive of disc desiccation.
The cranio-vertebral junction is normal. No evidence of any tonsial herniation is seen. No significant altered signal intensity is noted in the cervico-dorsal cord. The conus medullaris is normal in position and signal intensity. No demonstrable pre and paravertebral soft tissue mass is noted.
Impression:- Study reveals central and bilateral paracentral disc herniation at L4-L5 level with thecal compression and early bilateral foraminal encroachment. Small central disc protrusions are also noted at C5-C6 and C6-C7 levels with mild thecal impingement. Posterior osteophytes are noted at L3-L4 and L4-L5 peridiscal margins. The cord appears normal in signal intensity."
My doc put me on Pregabalin 75 and prescribed some static neck and spinal exercises. I am not sure if it is helping me much.
BTW, I am 38 yrs old, 5'9" tall, 75 Kg and have a 9-5 desk bound job. I always loved motorcycles and was all set to get myself one, but now I dunno whether I will be able to ride one.
What Happens Next? Is it really bad? Can it be cured?
Please help, I am really scared.
