My name is Lisa and I have read a lot of very helpful posts here. I am 40 years old, and have been married for 20 years. We have two adopted children ages 21 and 23, and one biological daughter 12.

I have suffered from Depression/Anxiety since PPD started after the baby was born. That is also when Insomnia started. In 2004 I underwent Gastric Bypass Surgery (the weight loss surgery) and have maintained 100 lbs. down. In April of 2008 I began feeling sick soon after my older daughter had appendicitis and I spent the weekend in the hospital with her. Since then, I have seen many Physicians and have had much testing done. The recent diagnosis as a result has been Fibromyagia and CFS, with degenerative arthritis in my knees and ankles. Some of the Drs. I have seen are: Infectious Disease Specialist, Rheumotologist, Neurologist, Pain Management (who beleive it or not was the least helpful!). I also have upcoming appointments for Physical Therapy and to see an Orthopedic Surgeon. These are my current medications: Wellbutrin 160mgs, Cymbalta 60mgs, and Oxycodone 5mgs, 2 in the AM and 2 in the PM. I have discussed with my Neurologist, who I mainly work with, that sometimes I have to take 3 Oxy at a time instead of 2, and I have to also take it in the afternoon or in the middle of the night if I wake up from pain. This causes me of course to run out early. My next appointment is on October 7th, and she will either increase the Oxy or we will discuss other options. My main symptoms right now are the knee pain and ankle pain, the not sleeping, and a very strange symptom which is body swelling. My hands, feet, and even my face feel swollen sometimes. So much so that it gets tingly. I work full time in a bank, I am constantly up and down to greet customers and to have the Tellers do a transaction for me. It is a very busy branch. Do any of these symptoms sound familiar? Are there any hints or suggestions from anyone? What type of pain control do other people have? I would LOVE to hear from everyone~~~ thank you!

  • I've "felt" like my legs are swollen - but they don't "appear" to be. Just a general tightness. Could be anything from meds, lack of proper activity, or weather.

I had one episode of pitted edema on left leg from
the knee down - doc and I chose to do nothing and just keep an eye on it. It cleared up in about
3 days. --Doc did examine me though. Don't know if
    it was fibro or not.

My eyelids are swollen quite a bit during winter.
Weird - but none of the docs seem much impressed
by it so I just put up with it. (ho ho)

    I'm NOT a doctor.

    Good to meet you.
  • I have the same problems at times , mine are from Lupus, have you been tested for that, My knees and ankles , face fingers all of that swells when I have a crisis, the only thing about the test for lupus is most of the time if you are not in a crisis it will give you a false negative result then when you go in a crisis it will show a pos. result. That is why Lupus is so hard to diagnose, and some people have it for years before they find it. Just a little info you might be avle to use , and maybe get them to test you for it. Hope some of your pain goes away, Good Luck and keep us posted pm me if you would like more info on lupus or look it up in the search engine. I will be glad to share my experience with you.
