I had to get a second laminectomy done and my dural sac had to be repaired. I went to my neurosurgeon early because of a fluid build up at my surgical site (L5-S1 area). When he saw me he immediately sent me to the hospital. They tried to take an mri the next night but I passed out on the mri table when I tried to lay on my back. When I woke up I realized I had blown a blood vessel in my right eye from the pressure in my head. They ended up doing a ct scan and ultra sound to find out it was spinal fluid in my back. It was 3.5" thick by 4.5" wide by 6" long. The neurosurgeon booked me for surgery right away but couldn't do it until a week later. He said the tear in my dural sac was higher up then where they did the first surgery (he never touched up there). So I explained the problem I had with the epidural steroid injection I had in May. He agreed that the tear was from that messed up injection. Am doing better now but some of my nerve problems are coming back. I had no nerve problems while the spinal fluid was leaking. I wonder if the fluid was helping the nerves? Anyways, I have no regrets for doing the surgeries. Wish I didn't need the second one but am very happy with my results. I hope not all my nerve problems come back and that the nerves do heal even a little. Thank you to all who kept me company online while I was in the hospital for 10 days.
