Pain has not stopped

Went into surgery on July 14 of this year for a full hardware, anterior and posterior/laminectomy/fusion/foraminotomy/etc, etc on L-3 thru S-1. Surgery went on for six hours but I ended up with a simple laminectomy/fusion. Seems that they found that I had broken my back at some time in the past and uncontrolled bone growth was a major factor for my pain. So they spent a lot of surgery time chiseling and cutting out the old bone growth.

Well, that pain has not abated. If anything it is worse. I can walk up to 3 miles now, but I have to be poured into the car afterward. Mornings are better than afternoons and evenings.

Went to see the surgeon for my followup this month and he noticed the pain right away. He has scheduled an MRI with and without contrast for next week. I'm now on Neurontin QID and I'm taking Norco at least 5 times a day along with Tizanidine. None of that stops the pain that originates in my right hip and then moves down the leg to the foot as the day progresses.

Still wearing the brace/corset and bone growth stimulator but have given up the walker except for those really bad days.

What fun!

  • I'm sorry you're still having so much pain after surgery. I'm glad you're getting it checked out with another MRI next week and follow up with your Dr. I hope you have better pain relief soon. Take care. Charry
