Hello. I've had neck pain since accident of 07. Went to a well established, very well referred, chiropractor this week. After 3rd visit I am having pain like just after the accident. Is this normal? Or did the good dr mess up my spine even worse? Do I grit through this or call off any further treatment?

  • The Chiro I went to when I hurt my back wouldn't even touch a herniated disc. He prescribed TENs and massage only. I would see your Primary Dr. for referrals to a Spine Specialist before any Chiropractor treatments. Take care. Charry
DDD of lumbar spine with sciatica to left hip,leg and foot. L4-L5 posterior disc bulge with prominent facets, L5-S1 prominent facets with a posterior osteocartilaginous bar. Mild bilateral foraminal narrowing c-spine c4-c7 RN
  • Personally, I wouldn't go back until seeing a spine specialist and see what they say .
I have severe DDD and other issues and my surgeon said absolutely no Chiros because they could make matters worse.
That's just my situation, yours may be different. Good luck
  • My neuro-surgeon said NO chiro on my neck after my surgery. I do know there are statistics (somewhere) that give the incidence of injury from a chiro adjustment. But I can't remember where I read it! :S IMHO you need to see your dr before any more chiro visits. Good luck, hope the pain lets up.
  • What does the chiro say?
As a long time neck pain sufferer and chiropractor user, I would not recommend chiropractic for a damaged neck.
I have my back and pelvic joints treated regularly, especially when the sacroiliac locks up.
My massage lady told me that some physios won't touch necks, so that gives you some idea of the problems that abound.
My chiro always did my neck as well, but after I mentioned the arthritis and facet injections, he just stopped. So he also is being very wary.
My neck treatment now is done my a remedial masseuse. She primarily treats the back muscles as they are the ones that cause the neck muscles to become sore.

Have had this done for over 4 months now and have had a dramatic stopping of my head and neck aches.

My back muscles are still a mess and it doesn't take much activity to upset them, but we are making slow progress.
I would very strongly suggest that you look into this safer, much more gentle and effective treatment for a sore neck.
