Hello to everybody and am just wondering if anyone could please advise me. Just received a letter from my consultant who says "the scans done show a highly abnormal lumbosacral juntion. He appears to have spina bifida occulta with a very marked angulation of the sacrum of the lumbar spine. Posterior elements of L5 are abnormal and there is a retrolisthesis with reduction at the L4/5 disc. There is quite marked synovitis of the facet joints at this level and this, plus the slip is contributing to foraminal stenosis on the right side and a lesser extent on the left side. He has partial sacralisation of his abnormal L5 with fusion on the right side. The L5/S1 disc is relatively spared by the transitional nature of his L5." Surgery would have to be "heroic". I am taking morphine, anti depressants amongst other tablets. Have also had injections which have not alleviated the pain. Am in so much pain now that I think what is it worth. Have also always shied away from an operation but now would welcome anything. Do you know if there is something that could be done to help me.
