Hi everyone! I am new here in this forum and have learned much!. I recently had a minor rear end collision in my car. I had minor pain in my neck immediately following the accident and just to be carefull I went to the ER to be looked at. They did both a MRI and CAT scan on my neck. I noticed by the next day my neck pain was getting much worse. The doctor after reviewing the scans referred me to a nero doctor. The doctor found that my spinal canal was very small compared to most and there was a bulge in one of my disks protruding into the canal.I had had no problems pain or otherwise before the car wreck. The doctor stated the wreck irritated the problem bringing it to light. My right arm now hurts and is numb from under my armpit to the tip of my fingers. The doctor has recommended surgery to remove the protruding disk and replace it with a bone graft and add hardware. Its now been 4 weeks since the wreck and the symptoms are still there along with hissing in my ear. I will have to say the symptoms haven't really been debilitating yet. I do find after a 8 hour work day I have neck pain and headaches. The doctor said my canal is so small that I could suffer if I had a fall or other trauma to my head and neck area if I dont get the problem corrected. My question is this, Should I wait until things get worse enough to take care of the problem or do so now?.I am looking for opinions from others based on their experience dealing with this kind of surgery.THANKS!
