Just a Little Update

Just a little update..I am finally sleeping back in my bed. Of course I still wake up in the mornings in alot of pain and very, very stiff but it wears off after a pain pill and some moving around. But atleast I dont think I will have to sleep on the couch or in the recliner anymore..thank goodness. Other than that I am feeling better day by day but know that I still have a long road ahead of me. Still have pain throughout the day but atleast it is becoming a little more manageable.
Also and I am embarrassed to even ask this questionbut...when is it safe to return to sexual intercourse after my L5-S1 fusion? I just dont want to mess anything up as to hinder the fusion process. If anyone can help me with this I would much appreciate it.

Hope everyone has a good evening!!!

  • We've all wanted to know the answers to these questions along the way. It's all part of life, so just ask! Anyway, I think most of our doctors said it would be okay when we felt like it again. Just take it slow (it's better that way anyway, isn't it?) and if it hurts too much, stop. Try again when you think you can.

    3 level spinal fusion, L3/4, L4/5, L5/S1, November 2008. Stiff, but I can walk.
  • Yes, I would ask the dr ;)

I've no good personal experience since my DH was in Iraq when I had my surgery. It was over 6 months before he was back. Oh, I guess I should add that I really aggravated my back when he did come home - even taking it easy. Be careful.
