:?? I have had upper left back pain/left upper shoulder pain for about 15 years now. It used to be sporadic, but has become almost constant the last month. I was told by a Chiropractor 15 years ago that I had a pinched nerve in the area. Did Chiropractic for several months, helped a small bit. Got too expensive, so I stopped going. Then my regular Dr. gave me cortisone shots about once or twice a month for a couple of years. He had to close his practice. Since then, my new Family Dr. has taken x-rays, saw nothing. Referred me to an Orthopedic Doc, he gave me a cortisone shot, didn't relly help. He said my pain was from my back/shoulder being strained, stressed?? Then sent me to Pyhsical Therapy, eased it up a bit, then it stopped helping completely. I was then referred to Pain Management Doc. He prescribed me Skelaxin and I tried a Tens machine. Tens machine didn't help, but Skelaxin helped a little. After taking Skelaxin several months, it has stopped helping the pain, period. Now the pain is almost EVERY day, all day long, and accompanied by a tremendous headache! I saw Pain management doc yesterday, now he has referred me to a Physiatrist?? Why do any of the Doctors diagnosis match up?? I am beginning to get really agitated, and this pain is getting worse evry day. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you :|

  • Welcome to Spine Health. I wish I had something to contribute that would help you out, but I don't. I didn't want your post to go unnoticed. I'm certain there are other members here who will be along soon to share their experiences with you. This is a great place to meet others and to take advantage of their experiences and friendship. Welcome.

  • Have you had an MRI yet? It really can be frustrating trying to find an answer to your pain. Many of us have had to go through multitudes of docs until we finally found one that would help. It is an aganizing process but hopefully well worth it in the end. Good luck and keep us posted.
  • hi and welcome to the forum! :H we are here to offer you support and answer what questions we can. an MRI might really give you a clear picture of what is happening in there.. one of your doctors should feel comfortable ordering one for you.. good luck and i hope you get pain relief soon. :D Jenny :)
