It's "Dapopo" here. Sorry it has taken me sooo long for my next post. Today is day 10 post-op but I want to tell u about how I got here. It was quite interesting.
After my L4-5 Open TLIF surgery I woke up laying flat on my back, & I'm scared to say it, but the pain wasn't too awful bad. Once I got my wittsIt's "Dapopo" here. Sorry it has taken me sooo long to add my next post, but here goes nothing.
I made it thru my L4-5 open TLIF w/instramentation. Today is the 10 day postop for me. After surgery I woke up laying flat on my back, & scared to say but the pain wasn't too awful bad. Once I got my wits about me & my family came back to see me the FUN started.
For those of u who don't kno - my surgery was done at an outpatient surgery center. I was TOLD that after awhile in recovery, I was to be transported to the after care center by ambulance.
Now here's what REALLY happened - after about 30 minutes in recovery, the nurse said I needed to get up move myself into some sort of "Recliner Chair" so i could be transported to the place where I would be staying for my aftercare.
With no instruction at all, I hung my legs over the side of the bed. When i was sitting up strait with my feet hanging down, it felt like someone was ripping my spine rite out of my back. I very slowley (with some help & alot of "F" bombs) stood up. My entire body was shaking uncontrolably & my head was spinning. So with tears in my eyes, I took a couple of steps over to the chair. With help I slowly lowered my self down into the chair. Words can not explain how bad it felt sitting down.
But wait, it gets better . . . they roll me in this chair out to a Honda Oddessy mini van. I was wheeled up the ramp thru the back & my chair was (supposidly) latched into the van. NOT . . . as soon as the van stopped for the 1st time me & my chair rolled up into the front seat of the van. OOPS!!!
The rest of the way was uneventful. While rolling me & my chair down the ramp out of the back of the van, I noticed my catheter bag was dragging on the ground. I said somthing to the guy & he let go of me to go pick it up. When he let go of my chair to pick up my peepee bag, he FORGOT TO LOCK THE BRAKES on the chair. My chair started rolling down the driveway backwards. WOW WAS THAT FUN!!
Once I got into my room & lying down again, the pain was much more tolerable. Sorry this was so long. I will write more tomorrow. It's time for me to take my "Be Happy Pills".
