Its been 2 months since my surgery.

My back is doing WONDERFUL.

NOW my incision has been so sore for 2 weeks now.
Tender to the touch.
Tender own its own.
Looks the same?

It was doing so good, until now?

Any ideas?

I go to the doctor this Wednesday NOV 4th.

I was not fusing last month but feel like I couldr now.

Ivr been severly constipated, maybe the pushing? (Sorry, pretty graphic)

I hope someone has experienced something similar.

Thanks in advance!

  • :H Hi Alana,

Wow, you really are very young to be going through all this. I had a Fusion L4-5,S-1 and 6 weeks later I was still having alot of tenderness at the site of the incision. And the hard part is "how the heck do I see back there?" I had alot of swelling before the staples came out, I kept miscounting them. But when I saw my Dr. he was very suprised to find that I was fusing already! I guess only your Dr. can tell you for sure what is going on. Nov. 4th is soon.

One thing I will agree on is the constipation issue and the pushing, That hurt like hell! The meds cause this.Keep up the good work and positive attitude, your children are beautiful.

    Take care,

    Donna >:D<
  • For your response so quickly! Yes my twin girls make the recovery very long!

I forgot to say mine was ALIF so I have a tummy incision.

But still........the constipation! That could seriously be a reason.

    I'm very anxious
  • Yes, constipation is a very real peoblem when on pain meds. Have you tried stool softeners? Also eat a LOT of fiber and drink a lot of water. Spinach and prune juice helps me along with the water. Or even eating cooked prunes but the juice helps me more. All Bran is good and so is eating corn. All the straining is not good but a lot of fiber and water helps.
    Good luck dear.
