Getting back into exercise after my 3 level ACDF is fun and complicated. I'm 15 weeks post op and have been given the ok to lift any weight I want as long as I work from the shoulders down. No putting weights on my shoulders.
I love doing push ups. I tried to do just 3 for a few days and then went to just 5 for a few days. It didn't hurt when I did them but today the back of my head and neck are ANGRY!
Has anyone done push ups post ACDF? I'd love to work with a PT but I had a bad experience with one just a few weeks ago so I don't trust them at all. My surgeon is tough to get a hold of. His assistants don't seem to know much about stuff like this.
I have to talk myself into calling anyway tomorrow. I feel so stupid asking little questions like "can I do push ups?" but I truly don't know. I know crunches are out because they're hard on the neck and I know push ups strengthen your neck so maybe I have to be totally fused before I do them???
This is such a crazy ride! I'm used to being able to do anything I want. Now I have to second guess each move I make.
If anyone is further down the rode and has been guided through this please share your path.
