double vision- spots

At PT today since I was feeling better the PT gal had me do range of motion and upper back exercises. This involved many arm lifts over my shoulder/head.

We finished with arm raises butterfly with me laying face down on a table. When I stood up I had black spots and badly blurred vision. The vision cleared after about 5 minutes but I am still seeing spots.

Should I be concerned? I see my NS January 7th.

Thanks,

Julie

When you see your doctor ask him or her about (ophthalmic migraine)
  • I have decided to go to the ER tonight when my husband comes home from work. I was talking to my sister the RN.

    I also googled this-
Symptoms of compressed blood vessels: If the bones in the neck begin to press against the blood vessels, it can reduce the flow of blood to the brain. The reduction of blood is too small to cause any serious problems. However, it can cause brief blackouts and episodes of dizziness, especially when looking in an upward direction. In some cases, the bones can also press against the esophagus. This can lead to difficulties in swallowing (dysphagia).

Which makes sense. My original PT thought I had some kind of Vertebral Artery issue. Plus my swallowing has been weird. Almost like I need to cough all the time.

Thanks Yankee- I did used to get Occular Migraine, but I have had them under control for a few years. This was caused by my arm lifting. The PT gal said I am highly unusual since most people with neck issues get relief from lifting the arms over head. I do not. I get spots just from washing my hair.

  • ER doc thinks I have a migraine. I am suppose to see my PCP tomorrow for new migraine meds. I did have terrible headaches for the last 3-4 days (pretty much 3-4 good days followed by 3-4 bad days etcs for weeks) and when he shined the bright light in my eyes my right eye started spasming and guess what? I have a terrible headache/migraine again.

He thinks that I am too young/healthy for the Vertebral Artery thing but that my neck pain is triggering migraines.

I used to take meds for migraines but these headaches are different. I guess it is time for new migraine drugs..

  • OK started Migraine meds- will see if it helps. My doctor wants me to see an optomolagist so I have that scheduled for next week. She is faxing everything over to the NS tonight. They will discuss my case. She thinks I may need a new MRI of the brain/c-spine.
