  • I would like to buy a good generic book for a friend; one which explains fibromyalgia, inside out and from start to finish.

My friend dislikes computers and knows the bare minimum about the disease, having only recently been diagnosed. Basically they need the sort of book which explains the limitations f/m places on one's life, includes all recommended and proven ways in which to deal with it, including methods which are more widely known, the pitfalls oof this disease and the outcome from varying patients' points of views.

If anyone knows of a book like this, I'd be very grateful for the details.

    Thanks very much.

  • What's your long-term prognosis (if you don't mind my asking), and when were you first diagnosed? I'll certainly pass on your advice.
  • What are the book recommendations?
  • Fibromyalgia and Chronic Myofascial Pain Syndrome, A Survival Guide. It has every possible bit of information that you could ever want or need to know, and sometimes the strangest little things will hit home. Years ago, I was suffering with terrible muscle cramps in my calves that would last for up to 18 hours, and I couldn't figure out the cause OR get rid of them. I happened to come across a little blurb in my book, and it turned out that a medication I was taking for my stomach was renowned for exactly that side effect. I went off the drug, and those horrible cramps eventually subsided.

This book is a must-have, in my opinion.
