Had L-5S-1 fusion May 20. Healed well and didn't have alot of pain at first but for the past 3 months I'm getting spasms and burning pain in lower back and down left leg. Getting frustrated and depressed. Is this the way it will be forever?

  • Welcome to SH. Have you seen your surgeon for follow up? If not, I would give him a call. Did you have this pain before surgery?

    Best wishes,

  • I am sorry to hear that your pain is back. I have read many accounts of other levels giving in after being fused at one level.

I hope that is not the case for you but you do probably need to see a doctor in order to rule that out.

Good luck and keep us posted.
  • hi and welcome to the forum! :H we are here to offer you support and answer what questions we can. sorry to hear that you are suffering after your surgery. i cannot help you with your problem but we do share pain as a common problem. ~X( good luck and i hope you are feeling better soon. :D Jenny :)
  • Thanks - I did call this morning so we'll see what he says. I am so glad to find a place where I can vent and not feel like I am whinning. Have a Happy Holiday.
  • Yes - once a month and physical therapy since October. Dr. is a great surgeon but not responsive to pain issues. Therapist is calling him so I may get some credibility through her.

The pain is actually worse than before surgery - but I am able to walk without falling so it is a plus.

Happy Holidays and thanks forletting me vent!
  • Thanks for the support. Just great to have people to talk to - Have a Happy Holiday. Ellen
