Over the weekend, I started having this extreme sharp stabbing pain in my back, it hurts so bad you have to stop moving, and then your like oh my god and then it goes away. It seems to occur more so when my bladder is semi-full but today started occuring even when I don't need to go to the bathroom. Originally I thought the pain was shooting from my kidneys, but I checked my back for tenderness and when I touched my spine (mid back), I felt that same horrible pain there. Sometimes (well since last night) it is hurting non-stop but then it'll get better.
Right above that, a little higher, I have had pain there in my thoracic spine probably for 8 mths or longer, I have went to a chriopracter, I went through physical therapy and that only helped while I was going, I have overdosed numerous times on Ambien (sometimes 6 at a time - eh enough to kill me) to rid myself of this pain. It's a dull pain in my back that doesn't ever stop hurting and it radiates into my chest, shoulders, neck, face, and causes really bad headaches, which I can't at all handle. The pain that radiates is in no question worse than the pain in my back but it's my back causing the pain. It burns frequently, I also have spasms in my back. The facial pain is like TMJ, it's an extremely painful problem.
When my doctor evaluated this, he did a plain x-ray on my neck then sent me to physical therapy for cervical neck strain, though the x-ray wasn't really specific to the problem. The only other treatment I've had is other medications (muscle relaxant/pain pills) which I don't even bother taking anymore.
My therapist told me multiple things, said I had restriction in my spine there, that it sounded inflammatory, muscle weakness, bad posture causing problems, said a segment was slipped out of place and he put it back in place for me.
The treatment in PT for my back aliviated the pain shooting upwards and 95% fixed my back pain but only while I was getting treatment, it never did completely stop hurting, but at least then I could tolerate it. I have to use ice so often, it makes me sick, I have to take Ibuprofen every day so I don't suffer to the point of o/d'n on sleeping pills.
I haven't been able to keep the pain calm like they did with me in physical therapy, with exercising, ice, ibuprofen, I don't know, it's just not the same as getting treatment. I can't go back to PT this winter cause I have no heat in my car, and even if I did go back, you can't go there forever. Whatever is wrong, obviously is not planning to freeking go away. And I seriously doubt the problem is going to be evaluated to see what is wrong.
Just wondering if anyone else has had any of these type of problems and have been lucky enough to find out what is wrong. I know doctors can be really slow about trying to figure it out. I guess if you paid cash up front and forget your lousy insurance, you'd get somewhere, but who can afford it. I'd save the money for an MRI though if I have to. I do not want to live with this pain forever.
