I came upon this site looking for info on spinal fusion. I am looking at an L/4 L/5 fusion. Not sure what kind yet, I didn't know there were different proceedures, and didn't ask enough questions yet. I haven't decided if I want to do the surgery yet, it seems like all I hear is horror stories!
I was injured 9/2007, broke all right transverse processes of the lumbar spine and messed up my neck. Last March had a laminectomy, foramenectomy, and discectomy on c/3,c/4. Had terrible pain and headaches. Am much better with surgery thank goodness, but still have daily, constant back pain.
I guess I just would like to know from others if they've had similar surgery and the outcomes. Thank you!

  • hi and welcome to the forum! :H we are here to offer you support and answer what questions we can. be sure and put "spinal fusion" into the search engine and see what you come up with. there should be lots of info. :? also check up on the "Back and Neck surgery" forum for input. there will be information in there as well. :D i hope you find the answers you are looking for. good luck and stop by anytime. :D Jenny :)
  • I had L4/5 posterior fusion for spondylolisthesis. It was painful for sure. Have to have a lot of patience and work hard at PT. Took about a year to recover, but will never have complete resolution of my back pain. I am, though, a lot better than I was prior to surgery.

    Best wishes,

  • you for the feedback. I know that the surgery will probably not resolve all of my pain, but what I hope for is that I will at least feel better and be able to function in life more normally!
I really appreciate hearing from you.
