Hi friends once again I am just having some sudden weird feelings in my body.

Last night at first I felt my shoulders were bruised like someone had punched me several times in the shoulders and in my neck then this bruising traveled into my arms and hands. Now the bruising has reached my rib cage area.So now my neck shoulders and arms and ribs all feel as if someone punched me for a long time.

Does anyone have these symptoms if so what the heck is it from? I really hurt.

Gee I need some answers as to why my body is showing these kinds of signs.

Thanks

  • hi His----did you just have surgery? I am 2 weeks post op anterior posterior spinal fusion, and every muscle is sore----your body gets moved around so much, and that can cause aches--I say I feel like I have been run over-------can you give some details?
  • No I did not recently have surgery but did end up in the ER last Monday with severe chest pains and could not breathe to only find out that I have two herniated disc's in my Thoracic spine. I deal with TOS as well on top of all of that. I have had a total of five surgeries in my spine in 2007 and 2008. I am right now dealing with doctors who do not want to touch my situation.I see a vascular surgeon on the 25th for the TOS. If you read the first post on here you will see where I have posted my resent events. It has been a struggle for me to just breathe with the pain in my chest, which is no fun. I am on a pain patch right now that helps but now I am having symptoms of feeling as if someone beat my body and caused bruising it is very strange. I do not see any out side bruising but feel like it is bruised badly that it is feeling like it is hot in the areas I do feel the bruising. Strange symptom and was wondering if anyone has experienced this.

    Thanks
  • I wish I could give you an answer to help you. I was wondering if it could be a reaction from the pain patch you mentioned you have for pain?

Sometimes for no known reason my nerve/leg pain gets worse than other times. It feels bruised to the touch, very sore and tender, when you touch along the pain path and sometimes I actually get tiny little purple/blue bruise spots. I don't know why this happens but my brother had bad pain in his stomach once and his entire stomach wasbruised like someone punched him, very wierd for sure.

Maybe you should call your drs. calling service #, explain your symptoms and have him to call you back with what to do. You could go to er again if it gets bad. Just in case it's med related call your pharmacist to see or look up the names of your meds on line to see possible reactions.

Good luck! Hope you feel some relief soon!
    Kathy
  • Hi Kathy.

There are no side effects like this on my medication that is why it is so weird. The pain is getting worse can someone help me in finding out what this is.

    Thanks
  • I think what Kathy said about calling your doctor, is a great idea. He/she might be able to explain why you are feeling like this.

I'll be doing some internet stuff tonight and I'll see if I can find anything for you.

Are you on any kind of nerve medication? I can't remember if you are or not. (I apologize for not remembering this)!

I hope this bruising sensation calms down for you real soon. Have you tried ice and/or heat for these areas, to see if that helps? That's about the only thing I can think of right now.

If I find any good reading material for you, I will be sure to let you know.

    Thinking of you,

    Tammy

  • It sounds as if this came on suddenly. Are you having any fever or chills with the bruised feeling? I'm just wondering if you are coming down with a flu or something. I know that when I get a bug, I feel a similar type of pain in my neck/shoulders. I think when we are coming down with something, our trouble spots feel it first.

Please remember that none of us can diagnose you, and if this is something you are worried about, a call to your doctor's service would be wise.

Surviving chronic pain one day at a time, praying for a reprieve because living another 40 years like this doesn't sound too fun!
  • Yes I have tried ice and heat but does not work. Man what ever this is it travels. I feel like one big bruise. You just touch me and and it hurts.Very very strange. Thank so much hon for caring so much I always feel alone when I am going through this.

Please send anything you might find I would so appreciate it all.

No this does not feel like a flu type symptom it feels like i have been punched by a fist in my arms neck shoulders and rib cage and back. Yes this travels it is the weirdest thing. I feel feverish only when you touch the bruised area.It is like the bruise area is feverish only. humm.

Yes I am aware no one can diagnose. But if anyone finds any info let me know. I am calling my regular doctor tomorrow.

    Hugs
  • I just wanted to expand on what Neck of Steel just wrote.

This may have absolutely no connection to what you are experiencing, but I remember sharing with you about feeling these same bruised feelings all last week. I believed this was primarily caused from my CAT scan done, the Thursday before last, but come to find out... I also had a bladder infection brewing in my system. It wasn't until this past Friday to where it was very pronounced, so I went to my PCP to drop off a urine sample. There was some blood in my urine and he started me on antiobiotics right away. I no longer have the bruised feeling in my upper arms and back.

I just wanted to toss this out, as what Neck of Steel mentioned... kind of hit home over here?

    Hugs to you,

    Tammy

  • I had a feeling like that post-op for a few days. It felt like my whole arm was pins and needles then throbbing. It finally went away yesterday. This may be connected to the thoracic pain you've been having.
  • Hi friends,

Interesting enough the bruise pain is now spread through out my body it is like i can not be touched with out being in pain. Even laying on my back or in my bed hurts cause I feel so bruised. I called my regular doc today and he upped my pain Phentanyl patch to 75 MG.I have no clue what is going on with my body.Next week I have an appointment with the Vascular surgeon and I had to make another appointment with the Orthopedic doctor to talk to him about taking more tests to see what is going on. The two disc's are herniated and he says he does not think that is the problem when I am feeling pain in between my shoulder blades chest pain and feeling like my chest is being crushed and am trying to breath, now my whole body feels bruised something is up.. So something is up and it needs further investigation.

    Thanks again
    Jeanie
  • It's good to hear that you have a doctor's appointment lined up next week.

I really hope your doctor's can get to the bottom of what is causing you to feel bruised all over and get your chest pain under control.

Hang in there, Jeanie. If your pain gets unbearable, please go to the ER.

    Thinking of you,

    Tammy
  • Hi Tammy,

Thanks so much. They no longer want you to go to the ER if you have back problems it is so crazy.

I am tired of being bed ridden. I want to do further tests on these disc's since the last disc blew My arms are always falling a sleep or numb, my bladder constantly has to go and I feel bruised all over and they are saying oh gee we do not think that is causing your crushed chest pain or why you can not breath. Well all of this got worse and ore symptoms were added since the ER visit last week. Man I am frustrated....
  • When i had my neck problems and my spinal cord was being flattened,i had pain all over the place.I hated for anyone to touch me because it was so painful.I would always say it felt like someone had punched me in the back a couple dozen times.Just too push on my skin it was so tender.I ended up maxing out nerve pain meds. before it seemed to help me.I hope that this isn't happening with you because it really drove me insane after a while. Please let us know how you make out next week at your apt.
  • I just found out I have herniated Disc from T-7 thru T-11 and also a herniated Disc in L/4 and L/5 this is due to a car accident I was in 5 months ago ,but I feel bruised all over everyday,My chest,my neck,my arms,my entire back,my hips,my thighs all the way to my knees.I used to be able to get a massage but now noone can touch me due to the severe pain when being touched...I believe mine is nerve pain as when I talked with the nurse on the phone she stated this was bad and I had to see a Neuro Surgoen I was a candidate for surgery now,I am waiting on my first appointment with the Spine Clinc but with all the leg weakness and the feet numbness and my arms tingling and going numb its got to be the Nerves in the Thoratic....I will find out more when I see the Doctor..Keep me posted it definitly dosent help with the pain you already have...
  • It is normal and will go away slowly. Workout every other day, NOT everyday, this alllows your body and muscles time to heal. Drink lots of water and soak in Epsom salt and warm water bath. Do 1 thhing go to your doctor and have him check for fibro. Those invisible bruises are usually associated with FMS, the tender areas of muscle tissue. If you feel it on one side, check the other side, if you have these bruises in pairs, it's most likely the signs of fibromyalgia.
