Hello all I am writing you all an update. I am 2 weeks post-op and feeling pretty good all things considered. Saw my surgeon today he said I am healing well and has lifted my driving restriction and pulled my staples out. I am also part of a research study where for 20 minutes a day I will wear an ultrasound device at the incision site to see if it will help with bone regeneration. My current restrictions are NO BENDING LIFTING OR TWISTING.( Very Serious ) Thats it other then that just take it real easy and be careful.
So I am still slow its not like i am running around. I am still not back into my own bed or for that matter i obvisiouly still cant tie my own shoes. Thus far I am happy with the outcome of my surgery.
I think pre-surgery I read way into it. I am not discrediting this and know all to well how serious this operation is at any level. I think as patience that we just need to trust our surgeons and be optimistic as much as possible. I think after dealing with my sciatica down my left and right side for the better part of 8 years this operation was over due. Plus not to mention after I woke from surgery the pain was gone. It is kinda wierd that the pain is not there.
Also because I had this surgery it has forced me to quit smoking so far. Up to surgery I smoked and now I have stopped. I hope that along with this that I will have the strength to stay quit.
I will continue to keep posting my progress. I hope those of you who are in it with me are having similar outcomes. Take care all.
