I am in the hudson valley and if I need to have surgery this is the one I'd like to have. Does anyone know of any neurosurgeons or orthopedic surgeons performing this type of replacement?

  • I'm sure there are a number of spine clinics in NYC performing ADR. Are you willing to travel?

Do you need cervical or lumbar discs? And just one?
  • Well......I live near NYC and have l4/5 herniation with thecal sac impression, type 1 degeneration, granular tissue, 2 bulging discs above herniation

    Do I qualify?
  • I didn't know if you were willing to come into NYC or if you were looking for something further out -- like Poughkeepsie or something....

If it's NYC, I would have some ideas. Otherwise you can find listings of fellowship trained spinal specialists on the internet. Most of them have websites, so with a bit of homework, you could figure out who is doing ADR. Also the two manufacturers of artificial discs probably have a doctor finder on their websites.

I'm sending you a PM with some information.

  • Thanks......do you think I am a candidate
  • Only a qualified physician who has examined you and looked at your films can make the determination as to whether or not you are a candidate for any procedure. For any member here to even venture an educated guess, is negligent.

  • As with any surgery, one should always get at least one other opinion. In your case, I would look for a clinic that you know is doing the ADR procedure, go in and talk with them. They will give you an honest evaluation as to whether you fit the selection process. If you are not a candidate and they did ADR, it might only hurt their statistics...and they don't want that, so they will make an honest assessment.
  • Thank you.... I apreciate your PM's also
  • If you can come to CT, I can send you a doctor name.
I can't tell you if you'd be a candidate. I think he's pretty restrictive on the candidates.

I'll send you a PM just in case you want a consult.
