I'm sure surgeons have good insurance. Does anyone know enough info. to give me a little guidance.
I have had 3 lumbar fusion surgeries on the same vertebrae because at least one time, most likely two times the hardware moved. The first time I saw as just bad luck, the second time, which was 2-3 months after my second surgery I think may be due to the surgeon's lack of skill. Two nerve tests showed nerve damage, he blew it off as the hardward probably moved again and he can just take it out. Though, he didn't remove all of it... Is hardware movement common and is it anyone's fault?
I also looked up my surgeon's licensure and he has 2 disciplinary/malpractice reports, which resulted in fines of over $75,000. They were in 2006 and 2007. I had surgery in early 2008. He also seems to be trying to rush me out the door and tell me how I feel. He minimizes my complaints, pain, need for a cane, etc. I suspect he is still under close supervision or something by the licensure board and needs me to have a successful outcome for his benefit.
Now that I'm applying for SSI Disability, his reports differ from my PCP and pain doctor, which I fear will/is interferring with my approval of Disability. I wouldn't be suprised if the licensure board did random personal surveys of his current patients and compared them with his own progress notes, there would be a discrepancy.
Anyway, does anyone think I have much of a case? In the very least I've lost my livelihood.
