Hi! I'm new here. But, I registered my account since last month. I had my spine L5-S1 surgery on end of last year. I had put in screws. I stopped my job for 3 months for recovery. Currently, I still facing pain. Sometime it well and sometime not. It make me headache. I'm so unlucky that the screws in my spine wasn't help me so much. Due to it hold on my nerve, my right worse. I can't even drive for more than an hour, Sit for long time. I need to use the pain killer to control. Currently, I still attend to my PT. Is there any members also facing the same problem with me? Kindly advice.

  • I am still in a great deal of pain since my fusion. The main thing that causes my pain is sitting down and laying on my back.....basically anything that puts pressure on my hardware. I feel like the hardware needs to come out.....some people are fine with it, but I feel like the screws are going to pop out of my skin.

I would I could give you good, positive support, but it has been a bad experience for me. I am on Morphine, Roxy, Soma, Lyrica, Cymbalta and Ambien. None of this really helps with the pain, and the amounts of medicine just keeps going up and up.

I am looking into having to hardware removed from my back as I feel inside that something is just not right with it. When my doctor did the procedure, they needed to cut an extra incision (5th) in my back as they had trouble getting the hardware in.

I wish you the best of luck and I am here to help you in anway I can.

  • your having so much trouble, was it anterior or posterior?

  • I had put in 2 screws. Not to any PLIF or ALIF yet! But, my surgeon told me that if it doesn't help me well, the next surgery for me called "TLIF". Do any members have any idea on it?

  • TLIF is similar to ALIF and PLIF. It is another way to approach the surgical area. In TLIF, the surgeon goes in from the side. You can read about it here:

  • Hi! Is there any members know abt Disk FX surgery? May I have more info on it?
