My wife has degenerative back disease, she has had surgery and is inline for a spinal stimulator. Her father found Dr. ABC who has a procedure using stem cells called
Autologous. Autologous refers to cells, tissues or even growth factors that are re-implanted in the same individual as they come from, another words patient receives his or her own cells. Cell therapy injections is a by-product of blood that is rich in Growth factors and platelets. It is said it will regenerate degenerative discs or cartlege in knees. Her father has freinds that have had this done to thier knees and say it has done wonders.
Anybody out there ever hear of this?????
It is very expensive and we have to go to Florida. $$$$$$$$
We live in Texas$$$$$$$
Insurance will not pay.

Post Edited, The naming of doctors is not permitted on Spine-Health

  • I have heard of this before. I think ( not 100% sure ) it was in a Readers Digest Mag.

I myself who have 2 terrible knees researched it a bit and so far the studies have only been for the knees. The results are favorable, however...
I would research this DEEPLY before agreeing to for my back.

Call some major study hospitals, such a Mayo and such. See what resources they offer you on the information/studies.

My concern about this being done right now to your wife, is little is known ( to my knowledge )about how well it works for the back.

Our spinal disks and our knee caps are not made up of the exact same "materials".
So the cell regrowth may be totally different for the back.

The lady who I read about who had this done on her knee, still was regrowing/healing 6 months later. My point is even IF this does help the spine, do not think of it as a quick fix.

Please do keep us updated about your findings/experience with this.

I for one will follow this thread to learn & share more.

    Blessings ! :)
L1 - S2 "gone" useless in 1 way or another. DDD. RA. Bone Spurs. Tons of nerve damage/issues. Stenosis. Both knees replaced. 50 yrs old. I had a great fall (hence my user name) at age 41 and it has been a domino effect every since.
  • There is a fellow on the board that is trying a procedure with stem cells. He is being treated in Colorado. Here is a link to his thread:

Around post # 20 he describes the actual procedure he is going through.

I will send you a PM with the name of the stem cell company.
