Surgery was a year ago today & I am here to tell the tale!

I just wanted to say that I made it through a whole year.
A year ago today I had a rib removed, discectomy &
fusion from just below my shoulders to my tailbone

Today was kind of upsetting - I think the whole
experience has been so life changing & emotional -
it's not just all about the bones!

I'm back in physical therapy & have a surgeons appointment
next month. I'm just really glad that it's 2-24-10 and
not 2-24-09!

During the really painful times it really is 1 day at a time.

  • It certainly is just one day at a time!

That was SOME fusion you had - how are things going, I'd love to hear details.

It also is a very emotional experience. See Gwennie's post on 'Those who have just ahd surgery' (or at least it's titled somthing like that) - she kind of sums it all up.
  • Susie...wow, what a committment to compassion and the rest of us here.

Amidst your own huge recovery, you have come here to give us an update and remind us that the surgery is bigger than the operation and that 1-day-at-a-time really is important.
  • Congratulations on 1-year post op! Sounds like your progress has been a long one but in a positive direction.
