and he did xrays and reviewed past mri and ct and discograms. He decided that according to my pain level and what is attributing to it, that he thinks the disc that had fissures in it is now torn or something and is causing my pain. He is setting up a discogram (this is the 3rd one) and it will tell us if it is the cause of pain. It was somewhat painful, in the last two, but inconclusive. He is also testing the one above and as many as needed to get a normal one. If it is, I am in for another fusion of L3- L4 and any others that may be involved.
He said he is bound and determened to get to the bottom of my pain and make me feel better. He also said that just because the previous discograms showed some problems with that level, he wouldnt have done a 3 level anyway. It wasnt conclusive enough and he feels that he doesnt like to do more than 2 at a time. I was in surgery for 8 hours the last time with 2, so I cant imagine how long 3 would have taken.
So there is once again, a little light at the end of the tunnel. ALthough I dont relish the thought of another fusion and another year of recovery, it beats the "there isnt anything we can do" speech that people have gotten. He is calling to set it up for as soon as possible. So I hope that this might be the answer to my pain. Wish me luck and I will update when I find out when they have scheduled me. Take care all, Love, Robin
